GuestXR research presented in an international neuroscience conference
Beatrice de Gelder, Professor and Director of the Brain and Emotion Laboratory from the University of Maastricht, participated in the international neuroscience conference “Mindful Connections – Social Interactions, Emotional Processing and Interference in the Brain”, organised on October 10th-11th, 2023, by the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, a cultural institution situated in Rome (Italy).
On October 11th, Beatrice de Gelder delivered the presentation “The primate social brain: is it all in the mind?”, which is based on GuestXR research. Among other topics, her speech introduced a species-speficic body model in the human brain, as well as the relation between body model and awareness, where model of body perception and self meet.
The talk at an international neuroscience conference was part of the session “What Makes Us Social”, which also included presentantions from Chris Frith and Uta Frith (University College), Salvatore Maria Aglioti (La Spezia University) and Steve Fleming (University College).
The Accademia dei Lincei is one of the oldest and most prestigious European scientific institutions. It is the highest Italian cultural institution and a non-economic public body.
