Partners from the UB and Inria present two GuestXR posters at the International Summer School on eXtended Reality Technology and eXperience
Esen Küçüktütüncü, PhD student at Event Lab Barcelona and Jeanne Hecquard, PhD student at Inria, have attended the International Summer School on eXtended Reality Technology and eXperience, celebrated on July 18th-21st, 2023, in Madrid (Spain).
During the event, they presented two posters built on GuestXR investigation on haptics and group dynamics in Social VR scenarios. The poster “Preliminary results for small groups in VRunited”, presents the results of an exploratory study on whether prior acquaintance have an influence on the user experience in VR scenarios.

On the other hand, the poster “Empathetic haptics: feel the stress of a virtual agent”, presented by Jeanne Hecquard, proposes the use of haptic devices in the form of a compressing belt and a small vibrator on the wrist to reinforce the connection with another user in a virtual reality meeting scenario through the direct perception of their physiological state.
A demonstration of the compressing belt and the vibrator to respectively influence the breathing and the heart rates of the user and provoke physiologically-based affective feedback was carried out to event participants.
