Project partners Umut Sayin, from Eurecat, and Bernhard Spanlang, from Virtual Bodyworks, disseminated GuestXR during the popular Sonar festival, celebrated in Barcelona between June 13th-15th, 2023.

The presentation was held on June 15th during the session “Open Mic: Creative tech with social impact”, dedicated to social entrepreneurship in the creative technology sphere.

During their intervention, they provided a general overview of the GuestXR project, describing its phases, use cases and research beyond the state-of-the-art.

Moreover, they introduced the project’s Open Call available for interested individuals or organisations to participate in the development and implementation of a use case integrating Extended Reality technology in novel applications.

The session was joined by presentations from the Research Institute of the Hospital de La Santa Creu i Sant Pau in Barcelona, who provided their answer to the question ‘Does music improve health’?.

Also, Transmedia Catalonia (from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) looked at how the metaverse is becoming an accessible space for musicians in ‘The Sound of Metaverse’.

Sonar is a festival dedicated to advanced music and multimedia art. It has become one of the most important events of this nature in the world, both for its success with the public and for the quality of its line-up.
