Eurecat showcases a GuestXR demo at the ISE 2024
The GuestXR project has been present at the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2024 conference, celebrated between January 30th and February 2nd at Fira Barcelona (Spain).
During the 4-day event, the project coordinator Eurecat managed its own stand and showcased a demo developed by researchers from the technology centre that underscores the need of developing algorithms that improve acoustic coherence in virtual reality, showing the latest advances achieved by the project.
In this video, the demo presented in the conference can be found. Produced to be experienced with a VR headset, the improved acoustics can still be appreciated with regular headphones.
The solution showcased is based on deep learning audio enhancement techniques. It allows to decrease reverberation, background noise and other disturbances captured by the microphones integrated into VR headsets significantly.
One of the aims of GuestXR is to promote the social inclusion of hearing-impaired individuals in VR and AR, as well as to boost the abilities of individuals with good hearing to communicate efficiently with individuals with hearing loss, by combining voice analysis tools, multisensory devices and displays with multisensory training protocols and interfaces.
Apart from the demo, different promotional materials of the GuestXR project were shown and distributed to the attendees approaching Eurecat’s booth.
Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) is the most important fair on systems integration and audiovisuals. This year marks its 20th edition and counted with over 1,300 exhibiting companies and institutions, alongside with a programme of specialised conferences and tech talks.
