D3.5 - Representation of Remote Participants - Initial report - Executive summary

Participants can have virtual representations that closely resemble their real bodies and faces. Here we will study different approaches for the representation of remote people and compare these different types of representation on group interaction across different circumstances guided by the use cases in WP5: (i) the drop-in discussion meeting where typically participants will not know one another. (ii) the conflict resolution application (iii) with respect to the additional use cases to be decided during the project with the User Group and through the Open Call. Additionally, we will carry out experimental studies considering two types of meeting (a) Business-like meetings where the participants do already know one another (b) Meetings where participants do not know each other beforehand but have to agree on a certain outcome – this will be relevant to the conflict resolution use case. We will be guided in our selection of examples by the User Group. (D3.5, D3.8).
