GuestXR holds a joint workshop with SHARESPACE and META-TOO projects
Following the IEEE Conference on Virtual Reality and 3D User Interfaces (IEEE VR) 2025 in Saint-Malo, GuestXR partners gathered with the consortium of the SHARESPACE and META-TOO projects for a joint dissemination workshop on March 13th, 2025, at the Inria facilities in Rennes.
During the event, these three European projects leveraged their collective expertise to explore synergies and boost advancements in VR and AR research.
The cross-fertilisation session provided valuable insights into each project’s objectives and methodologies, reinforcing the potential of collaborative innovation in the VR field.
On behalf of GuestXR, Mel Slater, scientific coordinator from the University of Barcelona, presented the project’s main ambitions and the work done for the development of the machine learning agent embodied into a VR platform designed to bring people together for immersive synchronous face-to-face interaction.
For its part, SHARESPACE explained its work in developing immersive environments, where humans and avatars can work together seamlessly in hybrid spaces, aiming to create natural, multisensory interactions that enhance collaborative tasks.
On the other hand, META-TOO presented their plan to ensure safer and more inclusive digital spaces by addressing gender-based inappropriate social interactions in the Metaverse, working on transferring technology and knowledge to create ethical and respectful virtual environments.
