GuestXR research presented to Virtual & Augmented Reality Master students

Presentation to VR & AR master students

Mel Slater, GuestXR Technical Coordinator and Investigator and Co-director of the Event Lab of the University of Barcelona, presented the GuestXR project to students of Goldsmiths University of London enrolled on the MA/MSc Virtual and Augmented Reality Master Programme. The lecture, held on February 9th, 2023, was attended by about 40 students and staff, who followed the class in hybrid mode.

The class session, titled “Meeting Yourself, Celebrities and the Police in VR”, delved into some of the history of shared VR and presented developments that include meeting yourself or interacting with celebrities in the same virtual space.

Within this context, GuestXR was presented as a project combining virtual meetings with Machine Learning to address problems that may occur. GuestXR aims to develop an immersive virtual social space anchored in XR based on examining individual and group behaviour by drawing on existing theoretical models from the neuroscience and social psychology standpoint.
