Inria takes part in a lecture on VR technologies during a French-Japanese seminar
Anatole Lécuyer, Research Director and Head of the Hybrid Team at Inria, delivered a public lecture based on GuestXR research during the French-Japanese Seminar on “Metaverse and Virtual Reality – The Science and Technology of Interacting with Digital Worlds”, organised by the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology on April 21st, 2023.
The lecture, held in conjunction with Shunichi Kasahara, Researcher at Sony Computer Science Laboratories, drew up the state of the art in Virtual Reality technologies and presented the current and future research tracks, discussing whether metaverse will become the future of our interactions with digital contents.
In particular, the lecture questioned the next steps for VR and immersive technologies and brought to light the pivotal and historic moment for this field, which is progressively moving towards mass applications and prompting colossal investments of the tech giants.
The public lecturer, open to the general public and all students at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology, counted with more than 100 attendees.
